Ahead of 2027 general elections in Nigeria, a renowned People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Engr.Joshua Chinedum Elekwachi, has formerly resigned from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Alliance (ADC), ahead of the next general elections in the country.
Engr. Elekwachi’s defection, followed a resignation letter tendered to People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ugbogologo Ward, Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State, stating that the critical decision was taken as a result of the prevailing culture of impunity, disregard for internal democracy, among other abnormal issues in the party.
The resignation letter reads in parts:“I write to formerly notify you of my decision to resign my membership from People’s Democratic Party(PDP) with immediate effect.
“Over the past five years,I have committed myself wholeheartedly to the growth and development of the party, especially at the grassroot level.I played an active role in mobilization and membership registration within our ward and made significant personal and political sacrifices in the believe that PDP could serve as a platform for meaningful political engagement.
“Regrettably, recent developments within the party- particularly the prevailing Culture of Impunity and disregard for internal democracy–have made it increasingly difficult for me to align with its direction. The party appears to lose its momentum and ideals that once inspired my commitment .
“After wide consultations with my family, political associates, and respected leaders,I have reached the difficult decision to disengage with the party.”
He enjoined all friends, associates, and well-meaning Nigerians to come on board to unite and drive the positive change our country urgently needs, adding that it is time to say no to bad governance, not just in words, but through our actions and political choices.
