Thirty-three family members of galant police officers who died during active service in Akwa Ibom State, have received welfare package, courtesy of IGP Olukayode Egbetokun Welfare Scheme.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, on behalf of IGP Egbetokun, presented cheques of thirty-seven million, two hundred and eighty thousand, two hundred and ninety six Naira, thirty-six Kobo (N37, 280,296.36k) to the deceased families at the command headquarters, Ikot Akpanabia on Tuesday.

“The cheques issued on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, are part of the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes presented to Thirty-three (33) beneficiaries who are next-of-kin to deceased officers.” CP Azare told the beneficiaries.

He expressed appreciation to the IGP for his generosity, saying that the cheques would help the families tremendously and serve as a reminder that even if their loved ones are no longer with them, the sacrifices they made can never be forgotten.

CP Azare also acknowledged the deep sense of concern of the Inspector General of Police, especially on the wellbeing of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

He assured that the police is relentless in its welfare scheme for its personnel, and will not back down on the initiative, especially for all deceased officers who sacrificed their lives fighting for the peace and progress of the country. The CP admonished the beneficiaries to make good use of the money given to them.
