The Delta State Police Command in collaboration with military operatives, have arrested 184 suspected internet fraudsters at the Nigeria Army Post Housing Estate in Effurun, even as they seized 247 rounds of ammunition from kidnappers.

The operation was conducted on July 21, 2025 acting on credible intelligence by the State Police Commissioner (CP) Abaniwonda Olufemi’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) who successfully disrupted a major kidnapping plot targeted at prominent individuals in Sapele and Oghara.

The alleged gang leader, Owei Abebo (a.k.a Adusa), was caught alongside several accomplices including spiritualists believed to supply charms and ritual items to empower the criminals in both Delta and Edo States.

The 247 live rounds of ammunition are meant for submachine gun (SMG).

Other items confiscated from the gang’s hideouts are 273 laptops, 97 smartphones, an iPad, chargers, and Wi-Fi routers during the raid.

CP Olufemi applauded his officers for their professionalism and bravery even as he charged other security personnel to emulate their dedication to duty.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring Delta State remains a hostile environment for all criminal activities, noting that investigations into both incidents have commenced in earnest.
