The primary responsibility of any responsible government is to ensure the protection of lives and properties of its citizens as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

No wonder, on assumption of duty as Governor on the 29th May, 2023; Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has outline security of lives and properties as his top priority. Prior to his election, Zamfara State was one of epi-centre for the activities of bandits, cattle rustler’s and other forms of criminalities in the entire north west sub-region. However, within a short period of less then one (1) year, the Governor was able to contain the activities of this miscreants to the barest minimum by dislodging them in Zamfara State and bring the situation under control.

Similarly, the government of Zamfara State under Dr. Dauda Lawal was able to re-strategize by overhauling the entire security architecture of the state through motivation and synergy with all the security agencies in the state to combat all forms of criminalities and threats to the livelihood of the good people of the state.

Today, the enemies of the state are instigating violence and calling for emergency rule to achieve personal interest without acknowledging the successes recorded in the past, coupled with the recruitment of 2,600 “Community Protection Guards” from all 14 local government areas to empower communities and enhance grassroots security.

A firm stance against banditry, including a no-negotiation policy, has reinforced peace and safety across the state.

Education remains a top priority, with a declared state of emergency in the sector:

Recruitment of 2,000 teachers to address the shortage of educators in schools.

Facilitation of the graduation of 16 nursing students evacuated from Sudan during the war, with automatic employment offered to them to strengthen the state’s healthcare workforce.

The administration has embarked on extensive infrastructural and service improvements in the health sector:

Construction and rehabilitation of hospitals across the state to ensure accessible and quality healthcare for all citizens.

Plans to upgrade Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital to a teaching hospital, alongside the construction of additional structures in general hospitals in Anka, Kauran Namoda, Gummi, Shinkafi, Magami, Tsafe, Jangebe, and Bukkuyum.

Under the 2025 rescue budget 2.0, significant resources have been allocated to capital projects aimed at revitalizing infrastructure and boosting development:

Completion of Gusau international airport and other key projects such as the Gusau-Magami-Dansadau road and Mallamawa-Zarummai-Bukkuyum road.

Construction of new roads, schools, and a state-of-the-art diagnostic center. Ongoing efforts to improve IDP shelters under the Solid program and construct a smart city project.

Governor Lawal has prioritized the welfare of workers and vulnerable citizens: Approval of a 13th-month salary for civil servants and retirees for two consecutive years. Clearing of over ₦10 billion in gratuities and the approval of a minimum wage of ₦70,000. Launch of the NG-CARES cash transfer program, providing over ₦4 billion to 44,000 vulnerable individuals across all 14 local government areas, with tailored grants for women, small businesses, and other groups.

Introduction of a social protection policy and law, in partnership with global organizations like UNICEF, WHO, and GAVI, to foster economic development and gender inclusion. Collaboration with the Turkish firm Direkci group to revolutionize agriculture through mechanized farming, greenhouse technology, and poultry farming, ensuring food security and creating jobs.

Distribution of agricultural equipment and seeds to farmers under the FADAMA III project, empowering over 19,000 farmers in 2024 as part of a broader plan to support 100,000 farmers.

The resumption of NYSC orientation camps in the state reflects the return of peace and security, providing a safe environment for youth corps members. Governor Lawal’s administration remains committed to youth empowerment, ensuring their active participation in the state’s development.

Governor Dauda Lawal has demonstrated unparalleled commitment to governance, security, and economic empowerment. With the “Rescue Agenda” as the guiding principle, Zamfara State is on a transformative path toward peace, prosperity, and sustainable development. These achievements mark only the beginning, as the administration remains steadfast in its mission to rescue and rebuild the state.
