The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has expressed his administration’s determination to promoting NG-CARES Programme, already domesticated as KAURA CARES in the state.

Speaking through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idros, on Tuesday at the North-West Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting, titled: “Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economy Stimulus”, Kebbi State, the governor explained that the programme had received all the support it requires.

According to him, “It is under this programme that for the very first time in Nigeria, a subnational government gave grants of N100,000 to 65,000 people, amounting to N6.5 billion.”

The governor said his administration would continue to support all facets of the programme now and into the future, Kebbi State cares for Kebbi people, adding that his administration will continue to CARE and Kaura will continue to CARE.

He enjoined the participants to be attentive and constructive in their criticism and allow the exercise to serve as a platform for an improved NG-CARES 2.0 when it begins.

The Commissioner for Budget, Dr Abba Sani Kalgo thanked Gov. Idris for supporting the less privileged in the state, assuring that the present administration under the able leadership of the governor has played its role in supporting NG-CARES implementation across the state.

The statement expressed why Kebbi State has consistently been amongst the top performing states in the NG-CARES programme in all the four assessments conducted.

The National Coordinator of the Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting, Dr Abdularim Obaje, in his remarks appreciated the Kebbi State Governor for his commitment towards streamlining the programme, saying that the meeting aimed to review the performance of the Independent Verification Agent under NG-CARES.

He added that the meeting would provide an opportunity to review the performance of the IVA holistic with a view to strengthening the process of verification of results under NG-CARES.
