In a bid to promote transparency and fairness in the downstream sector, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has recognized three petroleum marketers in Adamawa State for their commitment to accurate fuel dispensing.
The awardees are Maikadiri Nigeria Ltd, Fahimta Oil Nigeria Ltd, and NNPC Retail Affiliate (Madagali Oil).
Dr. Bashir Kafur, State Coordinator of NMDPRA, who presented the awards at the 3rd Quarter Stakeholders’ Engagement Meeting in Yola, the Adamawa State capital Yesterday., emphasized the authority’s commitment to promoting transparency and fairness in the downstream sector.
Kafur explained that the recognition was part of efforts to encourage marketers to abide by the rules, while also sanctioning those who default.
He disclosed that NMDPRA’s surveillance team conducts secret visits to fuel outlets, taking inventory without the marketers’ knowledge, stressing that the awardees have demonstrated consistent accuracy in fuel dispensing over the past two years, ensuring customers receive the exact amount of fuel they pay for.
The state coordinator urged other marketers to emulate the example set by the awardees, while warning against diversion and smuggling of petroleum products.
Speaking to New Nigerian, the awardees expressed gratitude for the recognition, attributing their success to diligence, honesty, and a commitment to doing the right thing.
Alhaji Isa Bapetel of Maikadiri Nigeria Ltd described the recognition as a motivation to continue on the path of honesty and good conduct.
Alhaji Tukur Madagali of Madagali Oil praised the initiative, urging regulators to emulate this approach across states.
Malam Bello Haruna of Fahimta Oil Nigeria Ltd attributed the recognition to fear of God and respect for humanity.
