The Nigerian national football team, Super Eagles is gearing up for a pivotal match against South Africa tomorrow, September 9, 2025, at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

According to Taraba State Football Association Chairman, Timothy Heman Magaji, who spoke exclusively with our correspondent at the Monty Suites Hotel Uyo, the team is determined to secure the three points needed to boost their qualification chances in the CAF World Cup qualifiers.

Magaji who is also a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), expressed some concerns about the team’s recent performance, citing fatigue issues among midfield players in their previous match against Rwanda, which Nigeria won 1-0.

The chairman highlighted the positive impact of Tolu’s substitution after Osimen’s injury, which helped shift the game’s momentum in Nigeria’s favour.

The Nigerian team is expected to undergo intense preparations to address fitness concerns and strategize for the South Africa encounter.

“We need three points with South Africa. I believe God will do it for us,” Magaji said, reflecting the team’s optimism.

The outcome of this match is crucial for Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes, and fans are eagerly anticipating a strong performance from the team.

The match comes up on Tuesday September 9, 2025 by 5:00pm WAT in spite of rumoured restriction of number of Nigerian fans at the venue, Free State Stadium, Bloemfontein, the supporters club are expected to storm the venue in droves.
