Davison Okafor, a grassroots politician from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State and the Coordinator of the socio-political pressure group, The Delta Unity Group (DUG), Ika South Chapter, has commended Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for uniting the Ika Federal Constituency with modern and sustainable infrastructure.

Okafor noted that the Ika nation has not enjoyed this level of progress in recent times from an individual and described Ebie as “a precious gift to humanity and to the Ika nation which God graciously gave us.” Speaking with select journalists in Agbor, the headquarters of the Ika Federal Constituency, Okafor reacted to the massive and unprecedented infrastructure the NDDC boss has attracted to Ika nation and beyond.

According to the foremost grassroots politician, “Ebie has not only raised the bar of performance but has also beautifully redefined politics, given the level of democratic dividends he has attracted to the Ika people—from infrastructure to human capital development, scholarship, sports development, youth empowerment, and improved medical facilities.”

He added that, like every well-meaning Ika indigene and all Deltans, he is impressed with Ebie’s leadership style, which he described as inclusivity, broad-mindedness, transparency, humility, and democratized development. “We have never had it this good in Ika nation, and I call on other Ika politicians in particular, and Delta State in general, to emulate him,” Okafor said.

Okafor highlighted Ebie’s track record of excellence in both private and public sectors, noting his notable achievements as Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, and later as Secretary to the State Government, where his performance remains unbeaten. “Whatever he touches turns to gold.”

As Co-Convener of Delta Unity Group (DUG), Okafor stated that Ebie, in a short period, helped the movement gain a pride of place in Delta State politics, to the extent that today, no discussion of Delta politics omits significant reference to DUG for its imprint across the 25 local governments of the state.

Speaking further, he urged DUG members, the GCON Media team, and other Pro-Ebie groups to remain resolute in giving unwavering support to the NDDC Board Chairman, emphasizing that politics without quality service delivery and tangible democracy dividends to the people amounts to nothing.

Okafor stressed that the Ika nation must learn to acknowledge and appreciate any personality doing well, irrespective of political leanings. “Ebie is presently a very good example of an Ika son who is doing well and must be acknowledged and applauded. He is using his good offices to unite the people and bring development. He has evenly distributed infrastructures within Ika South and Ika North-East – the two Local Government Areas that make up Ika Federal Constituency.”

Okafor called on all politicians and strategic stakeholders in the Ika Federal Constituency to align and give unwavering support to Ebie in his determination to deliver sustainable development and socioeconomic prosperity to the constituency.
