The Governor Approves Vehicle, Land for NMA; Pledges Continued Partnership to Strengthen Medical Excellence, Governor Uba Sani, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a resilient and inclusive healthcare system that prioritizes the welfare of medical professionals and the wellbeing of citizens.

The governor made this known while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kaduna State Branch, on a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. The delegation was led by the State Chairman, Dr. Hassan Bala Salihu.

During the visit, the NMA leadership commended the Uba Sani administration for its landmark reforms and unprecedented investments in the health sector. These include the swift approval and implementation of the 2024 CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures, allocation of over 15% of the state’s annual budget to healthcare, passage of the historic Mental Health Bill — the first in Northern Nigeria and third nationwide — as well as the establishment of KADSEMSAS and completion of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu 300-Bed Specialist Hospital.

The Association also lauded the administration’s employment plan of 1,800 health workers annually for the next five years and Kaduna’s pioneering implementation of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF).

Governor Uba Sani, in his remarks, appreciated the Association’s recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to further collaboration aimed at improving healthcare delivery.

He announced that Kaduna State is now set to host the forthcoming edition of the NMA National Games, following significant improvements in the state’s security situation.

In appreciation of the NMA’s partnership, the Governor approved the provision of an operational vehicle to support the Association’s activities and the allocation of land for a dedicated housing scheme for its members.

He also graciously accepted the Association’s invitation to serve as the Grand Patron of NMA Kaduna State Branch, describing it as a call to deepen synergy between government and medical professionals.

“Together, we shall sustain this momentum to deliver a more resilient healthcare system, advance medical excellence, and position Kaduna State as a beacon of medical tourism in Nigeria,” Governor Uba Sani stated.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kaduna chapter, Dr. Hassan Bala Salihu, has applauded the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his outstanding achievements in the health sector and the significant improvements in the state’s security architecture.

According to Dr. Bala, the Governor’s visionary leadership and people-centered policies have not only enhanced access to quality healthcare services but also fostered a safer and more secure environment for citizens.

He reaffirmed the NMA’s support for the government’s continued efforts to advance public health and community well-being.
