The Pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere on Friday,  commended President  Bola Tinubu for his resolve to have state police established in the country.
Afenifere gave the commendation in a statement made available to journalists by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi .
According to Afenifere in the statement, Nigeria is long overdue to have state police.
“We are aware that President Bola Tinubu is committed to having state police take-off as soon as possible going by his pronouncements and the steps his government has taken on this issue,” it said .
Afenifere added,”President Tinubu’s recent remarks on the issue in Makurdi and Abuja further demonstrated his determination to have the project (state police) take off as soon as possible”.
The Pan Yoruba organization also lauded President Tinubu for stressing that “the value of human life is greater than that of a cow”.
It stressed that the Makurdi declaration by Mr. President was a reiteration of what he said the day before (on Tuesday) in Abuja at the Constitution Review Legislative Dialogue on National Security organized by the House of Representatives and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Afenifere expressed the hope that state police would be established forthwith, “now that majority of the state governors and the Houses of Assembly in the country have keyed into it.
“In view of the concurrency of opinions on the need to have state police now among the national and state legislators as well as the Executive Arm of Government, it is hoped that State Police will take off very soon in Nigeria”
