The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fiscal prudence, accountability and transparency as it commenced the 2026–2028 multi-year budget defence
Declaring the exercise open, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Emmanuel Pridimso, said the budget is more than just a financial document but a strategic blueprint that translates the government’s vision and policy objectives into tangible projects and services for residents.
According to him, the multi-year recurrent budget discussions will lay the foundation for the state’s progress over the next three years.
“This multi-year framework provides us with a unique opportunity. It allows us to move beyond a single-year perspective and engage in long-term strategic planning.
“We can better align our resources with our long-term goals, ensure the continuity of critical projects, and plan for future challenges and opportunities with greater foresight,” he said.
Pridimso urged all participants
to critically evaluate proposals, prioritize high-impact projects, and ensure every naira is allocated effectively.
He emphasized that all efforts are being carried out under the mandate of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to ensure transparency and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Adamawa State.
Encouraging active and constructive participation, Pridimso described the process as a collaborative effort that requires the collective wisdom and expertise of all stakeholders.
In his address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Solomon Kumangar, said the budget defence reflects the Fintiri-led administration’s philosophy of inclusiveness, guided by the principle that “no one is left behind, and nothing is left untouched.”
He added that the system follows international best practices by adopting a medium-term expenditure framework that extends beyond a one-year fiscal cycle.
Kumangar stated further that ongoing infrastructural projects in the state highlight ease of access to funds as well as effective monitoring and evaluation.
New Nigerian reports that the session was attended by representatives of ministries, departments, agencies, and civil society organizations.
