As political activities gather momentum ahead of next month’s by-election in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Alexander Igoji Adanu, is drawing attention for what observers describe as “quiet but impactful” interventions in the constituency.
Hon. Adanu, who served as Director of Finance at the late Hon. Ekene Adams’ constituency office, is widely seen as a loyal steward of the late federal lawmaker’s legacy and a key driver behind some constituency-based initiatives in recent months.
Among the interventions attributed to him since the demise of his principal, are the renovation of the U/Yelwa Primary School, including the provision of desks and chairs, and the construction of a police outpost in Buda community within Kajuru Local Government Area.
In the area of community health, Adanu facilitated the donation of essential hospital equipment to selected primary healthcare centres, alongside organizing free medical outreaches across the constituency. Beneficiaries also received prescription glasses during the outreach programmes.
Addressing persistent power challenges in the area, he donated transformers to some communities with epileptic power supply and sponsored repair works to restore electricity to affected zones.
Hon. Adanu also initiated empowerment programmes targeted at vulnerable women across Chikun and Kajuru, underscoring what supporters describe as a consistent commitment to grassroots inclusion and social welfare.
A cross-section of residents who spoke with LEADERSHIP commended the ADC candidate for sustaining development projects at a time when the constituency is yet to elect a substantive federal lawmaker.
Many of them described his emergence as a beacon of continuity, urging constituents to consider verifiable track records over political theatrics as the by-election approaches.
Observers note that the forthcoming poll will be a test of the electorate’s response to visible impact versus emerging promises.
