Worried by the Incessant crisis between Dangote Refinery and Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), NUPENG, PENGASSAN, DAPMAN, IPMAN and informal actors in the oil industry; the immediate past Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu, has appealed to them to allow Dangote Refinery provide relief to Nigerians in the oil value chain.
Speaking to newsmen on the ugly development on Sunday, Okechukwu submitted that instead of conspiracy against Dangote, the only valid option left to stop its monopoly is for the NNPCL to revive the four refineries which had gulped US dollars for rehabilitation, as competition cannot be in vacuum.
He said, “One is at a loss how NNPCL that woefully failed to neither manage nor repair our four refineries and regrettably denied Nigerians the golden opportunity to own 20% in the Dangote Refinery is simulating crisis?
“Or the NUPENG and Co, that participated in mangling the refineries and had obstructed their privatisation are today conspiring against Dangote?
“For me what they are doing is mere sabotage and conspiracy against Nigerians; for the cardinal question is could there had been need for the Dangote 7th global largest refinery, if our four refineries were working?” Okechukwu retorted.
He said that instead of thanking Dangote for reduction of local prices, savings of foreign exchange by stopping importation of refined PMS and other derivatives and in addition his exportation of refined products; the NNPCL and their co-conspirators are chasing yesterday they lost.
