Unknown gunmen have attacked Angwan Rimi Community in Kamaru Ward of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed seven people.
The gunmen had also during the attack injured about eight other people on Sunday night.
A source told New Nigerian that the attack by the bandits affected mostly women and children of Irigwe extraction.
According to the source, those killed during the attack are Jacob Zakka (12), Felicia Francis (30), Magaret Mathias (5), Veronica Paul (25), Delight Paul (1), Confidence Yakubu (15), and Sati Markus (9).
He added that Mathew Sunday (14), Jethro Istafanus (7), Jackson Istafanus (5), Emmanuel Morris (14), Agatha Sylvester (9), Joy Markus (9), Divine Paul (6 months), and Mary Ishaya (12) were identified as those injured by the gunmen.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Church Yonkpa, appealed to the Federal and Kaduna, Plateau states and Kauru Local Government Area, to take immediate measures to protect Irigwe communities by deploying security personnel to protect them and enable them go about their normal businesses.
“The leadership of Irigwe Youth Movement uses this medium to call on relevant authorities to intervene by making sure the lives of Irigwe people and our communities are well protected for them to freely showcase their potentials in enhancing their standards of living,” he said in a statement.
The group also urged security agencies to act decisively in order to apprehend the perpetrators of the evil act so as to bring them to justice, and as well stop further violence in the area.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, DSP Mansur Hassan, did not respond to calls made on his phone to respond on the incident.
