In a renewed effort towards addressing poverty and empowering youths in Borno State as well as promote self-reliance and encourage humanitarian activities, the state government in partnership with Qatar Charity Foundation has empowered youth with tricycles (Keke Napep), open-body tricycles, (Jega) and grinding machines at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri last Saturday.
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Bukar Tijjani appreciated the partnership and promised to continue to collaborate with the foundation to foster more and impactful programmes that would be beneficial to the people of Borno especially, the youths.
He also promised to support and assist the foundation anytime where necessary in alleviating the suffering of the IDPs and empowering them to be self reliant and useful to themselves in sustaining a good and better livelihood.
The SSG reaffirmed state government’s commitment to sustain collaboration with Qatar Charity, saying: “This partnership is not just about today’s donations it is about building lasting opportunities for our people”.
” Together, we are laying foundations that will empower families, uplift communities, and secure a brighter future for Borno State,” Tijani added.
Dignitaries in attendance include the Acting Country Director of Qatar Charity Foundation, Mr. Asim the Head of Service, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Ngluze; the Commissioner for Religious Affairs; and the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, and Investment.
Also present were Mr. Kamal Abdallah, Administrative Coordinator of Qatar Charity Foundation; Office Supervisor for Borno and Yobe; as well as Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
Beneficiaries, in their remarks, thanked the Borno State Government and Qatar Charity Foundation for selecting them and pledged to put the empowerment items to good use.
Immediately after the distribution, government officials and Qatar Charity foundation officials proceeded to Bolori to inspect ongoing construction work at the Orphan School and Mosque under construction by the charity foundation which is part of underscoring the long-term vision of the existing support to the vulnerable communities across Borno State by the Qatar Charity Foundation in Maiduguri.
