Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday, described the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as an uncommon hero and one of the greatest citizens of the country that have lived.
The party stated this in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare to mourn the immediate former president of Nigeria made available to journalists in Ibadan
According to the party, the late former President remained one of the greatest Nigerians even in death, adding that the late national leader was a worthy model whose record of service to the nation, Africa and the world at large can never be overemphasized.
“We received the news of the passing of our dear leader, former President Muhammadu Buhari, with a rude shock and utter disbelief on Sunday due to the fact that we had wished he lived longer to continue his modest contribution to cause of nationhood and humanity in general”, it said.
The party added, ” As a matter of fact, the great man died at time when his rich wealth of experience and wise counsel was needed globally and particularly in Nigeria
This was a man who dedicated his life to excellence as he towered above many of his contemporaries in military, politics and private life”.
” Apart from the fact that Buhari lived a spartan life, he was averse to indiscipline, recklessness and abused of power even when he had the opportunity to govern the world’s most populous nation both as a military Head of State and later a civilian President for a combined period of over nine years.”
Oyo APC stressed, ” We shall continue to celebrate the departed hero who has left an indelible mark in the sands of time even as we pray unto Allah to grant him eternal rest while we also commiserate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC nationwide and most importantly, members of the Muhammadu Buhari family and the entire people of Daura, Katsina state over the unfortunate development.”
