The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has commissioned a newly built block of six well-furnished classrooms, each equipped with modern smart boards, a project which is his own small way of giving back at the Nigeria Military School (NMS) Zaria.

He said, this intervention represents his firm belief that learning aids must evolve with the time.

Vice Admiral Ogalla said these new classrooms will not only enhance the capacity of the school in pursuit of academic excellence, but also provide the NMS Boys with the tools to better appreciate what is being taught.

He added that It is his believe that these facilities will be maintained in order to inspire innovation, excellence, and curiosity among the boys.

“In addition to this, I am equally delighted to commission other key projects within the School today”.

“These projects collectively speak to our shared vision of sustaining NMS as a centre of excellence in both academic and military education”.

“They reflect our collective responsibility, as leaders, to continually give back to the institution that gave us so much”.

“As the Chief of the Naval Staff, I am keen to foster deeper collaboration between the Nigerian Military School and the Nigerian Navy Military School, Ikot Ntuen, established in 2018 and shares a common vision with NMS”.

According to him, It is his conviction that such collaboration, through knowledge exchange, cultural ties, and shared best practices will enrich both institutions and strengthen the foundations of military education across our Armed Forces.

The Chief of Naval Staff expressed appreciations to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, for his remarkable intervention in the renovation of the entire Boys Lines, as well as other ongoing renovation efforts in the school.

“Your steadfast commitment to the welfare and development of NMS is truly commendable.

“I also wish to commend the Commandant of NMS and his Team for their steadfastness in ensuring that this great institution continues to strive higher.

“Your dedication to upholding standards of excellence and discipline is deeply valued, and it assures us that the vision of NMS is in safe hands,” he said.

He acknowledged and commended the unwavering commitment of the NMS Ex-boys Association, urging them to continue to sustain this legacy of giving back, “for in so doing, we ensure that the Nigerian Military School not only preserves its traditions but also adapts to the changing needs of our time”.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Owiocho Ngbede Ejiga Commandant Nigerian Military School Zaria said the luncheon is organized in honour of the visit of the Chief of Naval Staff, signifying the importance of the momentous and historic event.

He said, “this visit will undoubtedly signpost an important milestone in the annals of this great school, and surely leave an indelible mark in hearts of all that have witnessed it, particularly the boys.”

General Ejiga used the unique opportunity to on behalf of all the members of staff and boys of Nigerian Military School, to thank the Chief of Naval Staff for firstly, the landmark intervention towards the constructing a modern, purpose built and equipped block of six classrooms, and secondly, for the special honour of physically commissioning the legacy project.

According to him, “this immense contribution and support of the Chief of Naval Staff, will in no small measure, and undoubtedly, contribute significantly in the provision of a conducive teaching and learning environment for the boys to thrive.

“It has further entrenched and meaningfully contributed in the ongoing transformation of the school. Let me at this juncture, immensely thank the distinguished members of NMS 86 set, for sponsoring the Phase 2 of the Light Up NMS Project, which was commissioned today.

“The Phase 1 was sponsored by members of the NMS 89 set, to which I proudly belong.

“These interventions, underscores the yearnings of Ex-Boys in ensuring NMS, remains a bastion of pure excellence.

“Therefore, I most sincerely thank the Ex-Boys community, particularly the Executives of the National Ex-Boys Association, for their roles in galvanizing these supports.

“Worthy of note, is the ongoing transformation driven by the endless support of the Chief of Army Staff.

“Consistent and deliberate interventions from the Army Headquarters, have significantly supported in the realignment of the School into the center of excellence it is historically known to be.

“Therefore, I will continue to provide the needed pragmatic leadership, by ensuring its enduring traditions, culture and excellence are maintained and improved upon”.
