Students of the National Open University (NOUN), Kaduna Study Centre, under Group I, have distributed school uniforms to pupils of primary schools in Kaduna South Local Government Area.

The uniforms were distributed to the beneficiaries at an event held at the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) in Badikko community under Tudun Wada District.

The representative of the Kaduna Study Centre Director, who also doubled as the project supervisor, Malam Nura Marafa, said the initiative is not only a critical academic component but also a transformative experience designed to foster learning through service, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

According to him, the Community Development Service is an opportunity for students to learn by doing, serve others, reflect critically, and grow as responsible citizens of the country.

He added that the course aligns with the National Open University’s mission to produce graduates who are not only job-ready but also community-minded and socially conscious by contributing meaningfully to societal development while enhancing their own personal and professional growth.

Speaking at the event, the Group Leader for Group I Community Development Service, Sharifudeen Ibrahim Muhammad, said the group is made up of thirty members and that a total of fifty pupils benefited from the project across Tudun Wada District of Kaduna South Local Government, with major focus on orphans and the less privileged.

He listed the beneficiary schools to include: LGEA Primary School, Fulani Road Tudun Wada; Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Model Primary School, Sabon Gari; Maimuna Gwarzo Primary School, Unguwar Sanusi; Badikko LGEA Primary School; as well as Army Children School, Comilla Barracks, Badikko.

In their vote of thanks, the headmistresses of the Army Children School, Comilla Barracks, and LGEA Primary School, Badikko, as well as beneficiary pupils, thanked the group of students from the National Open University for the life-touching project, saying they will not forget the gesture easily as the group has left an indelible mark in their lives.
