The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to democratic governance, describing Democracy Day as a solemn reminder of the courage and resilience of the Nigerian people in asserting their sovereign will.
In his Democracy Day message, the Governor hailed June 12 as a “testament to the courage of the Nigerian electorate” and a tribute to the heroes and heroines who made sacrifices for a just and equitable Nigeria.
Governor Nwifuru commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for what he described as steadfast leadership and an unshaken commitment to democratic consolidation through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He lauded the President’s policy reform including fuel subsidy removal—as bold steps reflecting the true spirit of federalism and national development.
“The President has continued to demonstrate matchless commitment to the deepening of good governance and democratic ideals. His reforms are designed to promote transparency, uphold the rule of law, and empower institutions,” he said.
Reflecting on Ebonyi’s trajectory, Governor Nwifuru stated that his administration draws inspiration from national leadership and remains anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs Agenda. He emphasized that this homegrown framework is rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and equity.
“Our policies are not only tailored to meet immediate needs but to secure a sustainable future for the next generation,” the Governor noted, citing ongoing advancements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.”
Underscoring the essence of democracy beyond the ballot box, Governor Nwifuru said, “Democracy is about governance that listens, serves, and uplifts. It is about building lasting institutions and strengthening the bond between government and the governed.”
