Equestrian enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Emirates Equestrian League Championships is set to go underway in November, 2025.
Accoding to organisers, the event is scheduled between November 20 and 30, 2025, at the Lafia Golf Club Facility in Mararaba, Lafia, Nasarawa state.
“It promises to be an exciting display of horsemanship and skill,” an official brochure designed for the sporting event indicated.
The Championships is being organised by the Nigerian Equestrian Federation (NEF) in partnership with Equestrian League Management Limited (NEL).
Further information revealed, “The event aims to promote the development of equestrian sports in Nigerian Emirate Councils and the wider regions.
“Riders and horses from across the Emirates in Nigeria will gather to compete in a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. The event will feature 5 rounds of competitions, showcasing the skills and talents of riders and horses in various disciplines.
“The competitions will include four disciplines – Show Jumping, Dressage, Horse Racing, and Eventing.
“Each team will consist of five riders, with four competing in each discipline and one rider competing in any other discipline.
“The Emirates Equestrian League Championships will provide a range of awards and prizes to recognize the outstanding achievements of riders and horses. The prizes include N500,000 for the 1st prize, N300,000 for the 2nd prize, and N200,000 for the 3rd prize.
“The league winners will also receive a prize of N2,000,000, with N1,000,000 for the 2nd place and N500,000 for the 3rd place. The event promises to be an exciting and thrilling experience for spectators.”
The organisers have assured that all logistical and facility arrangements are in place to provide a seamless experience for all participants and spectators.
“The event will feature environmental initiatives, including waste reduction and recycling programs.
“The venue will also provide accessible facilities and services for riders and spectators with disabilities. The event will be broadcast live on television and online platforms, allowing a wider audience to experience the excitement.
“Professional photographers will be present to capture the action and excitement of the event.
“Accredited journalists and media representatives will have access to designated media facilities, including workstations, internet, and press conferences.
