A Kaduna based Estate Surveyor Valuer (ESV) Ikechukwu N. Nnaji, has raised an alarm over the incursions of quacks impersonating and masquerading themselves as Estate Surveyors and Valuers in the country.

He, therefore, appealed for collaboration with the Nigerian Police Force to arrest quacks impersonating and masquerading themselves as Estate Surveyors and Valuers in order to ensure normalcy among its professionals and practice.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammad Rabiu, by members of the Estate Surveyor and Valuers, Nnaji observed, “These are the set of people who go around defrauding people in the name of Estate agents but have no basic academic qualification to practice, their activities are big threats to the public.”

The ESV assured of their members’ willingness to partner with the police in the state in every area as might be deemed fit, saying, “you may wish to beckon on the leadership of our profession from time to time to share views with you in this noble direction. I can assure you that we are ready to have excellent working relationship with your command.”

As one of the leading professional bodies in the real estate sector in Nigeria, he assured of their contributions through offering real estate services, land administration, asset management and administration, housing and project development to the development of Nigeria with utmost modesty, saying that they have positively and progressively impacted the country.

“However, Nigerian Police Force assets need to be valued at regular intervals to ascertain the worth or the asset base of your assets for International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and insurance purposes. The accommodation of officers and rank and files need to be properly managed vehicles confiscated and legally forfeited need to be valued auctioned. We are the right professionals to carry out this assignment and we are ready,” he explained.

He added that they also expect that personnel who studied Estate Management and Valuation should be engaged in the service to man their real estate department, both for the allocation of accommodation and facilities.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police thanked the members of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers for the visit, assuring that the collaboration is essential in order to fight crime in the society.

Mohammad Rabiu also stressed the need for synergy between the police and the Estate Surveyors and Valuers, believing that it would go a long way in solving challenges in land grabbing and valuation of property in the country.
