Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, recently celebrated women teachers and emphasized the need for action on gender equity during an International Women’s Day event.
She highlighted the crucial role female educators play in shaping the future through education and praised their dedication and impact.
Dr. Balarabe described women teachers as “quiet architects of our future,” emphasizing their indelible impact on students’ lives.
She restated the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, citing investments in school infrastructure, teacher recruitment, and initiatives like the Reaching-Out-of-School-Children (ROOSC) program.
Dr. Balarabe assured that Kaduna State is taking action to close the gender gap through new schools, science colleges for girls, scholarships, and school feeding programs.
She called for intensified efforts to achieve gender equity, warning that without accelerated interventions, true gender parity could take over a century.
Dr. Balarabe has been instrumental in advancing women’s roles and improving socio-economic conditions in Kaduna State.
The state government has prioritized promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in its developmental agenda.
The Together We Can project, supported by UN Women, has also made a transformative impact in Kaduna State, enhancing community resilience and promoting gender awareness.
