Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has been commended by Vice President Kashim Shettima for pioneering a bold approach to skills acquisition through the establishment of the Kaduna State Council on Skills, the first of its kind in the country.
Speaking during the 7th meeting of the National Council on Skills (NCS) held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, Vice President Shettima hailed Governor Sani’s foresight in institutionalising a coordinated skills development framework, describing it as “exemplary and worthy of replication by other states.”
Governor Sani, who also chairs the Kaduna State Council on Skills, highlighted his administration’s achievements in vocational training, noting that the Kaduna Vocational and Skills Development Institute has already admitted over 30,000 students. He reaffirmed his commitment to expanding opportunities for youths to acquire practical skills that guarantee employability and self-reliance.
“Our focus is to create a future-ready workforce in Kaduna. Skills acquisition is the bedrock of job creation and poverty reduction, and we are determined to sustain the momentum,” the Governor said.
Vice President Shettima underscored that the success recorded in Kaduna State aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises human capital development. He noted that Governor Sani’s initiative serves as a model for tackling institutional gaps that have long hindered Nigeria’s skills ecosystem.
Also lending his voice, the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, praised Governor Uba Sani’s role in facilitating the commissioning of the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development in Kaduna, stressing that technical colleges nationwide are now being directed to focus exclusively on industry-relevant courses.
The Kaduna State Government has consistently positioned itself at the forefront of Nigeria’s skills revolution, with Governor Uba Sani pledging to strengthen partnerships with the federal government and private sector to boost job creation, enhance productivity, and secure a better future for youths.
