Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding energy access and driving industrial growth through renewable energy solutions in Kaduna State.
Speaking while presiding over the Renewable Energy Roundtable organized by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in collaboration with the Kaduna State Government, Governor Sani said the initiative marked a major step in the state’s quest to achieve energy inclusion and sustainability.
The event, themed “From Policy to Impact: Sustaining the New Kaduna State Electricity Market for Access, Investment & Industrial Growth,” brought together policymakers, investors, and energy experts to deliberate on innovative strategies to power communities and industries across the state.
Governor Sani disclosed that the state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the REA to develop tailored electrification strategies and establish sustainable decentralized solar power solutions for unserved and underserved communities.
According to him, the partnership underscores Kaduna’s determination to build a transparent and investor-friendly electricity market, anchored on off-grid innovation and clear policy frameworks designed for long-term impact.
“Our administration is committed to creating an enabling environment that encourages investment in renewable energy. We are deliberately positioning Kaduna as a model for sustainable energy transition in Nigeria,” Governor Sani stated.
He commended the Managing Director of the REA, Mr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and his team for their collaboration and recognition of Kaduna’s forward-looking energy policies.
Governor Sani also noted that private sector participants at the roundtable expressed strong interest in partnering with the state, describing the growing investor confidence as a validation of his administration’s governance reforms and inclusive development agenda.
With vast potential in solar, biomass, and hydro resources, the Governor said Kaduna is strategically placed to lead Nigeria’s renewable energy revolution, power industries, and uplift rural communities.
“Kaduna is ready to serve as a national model in renewable energy — powering industry, empowering people, and promoting inclusive growth,” he affirmed.
The roundtable further highlighted Kaduna State’s proactive approach to policy-driven energy reform, setting the tone for deeper collaboration between government and private sector players in Nigeria’s evolving power landscape.
