The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Kaduna State and Chairman of Kada Warriors Football Club, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has commended the current leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for its ongoing efforts to reform and improve the quality of football officiating across the country.
He made this remark while speaking at the 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria National League (NNL), which was held at Fifth Chukker, Kaduna on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering of key football stakeholders, Hon. Mamman Lagos expressed strong support for the initiatives being championed by the new NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, noting that the reforms are timely, strategic, and necessary for restoring fairness, professionalism, and credibility to Nigerian football.
“The reforms being pursued by the current leadership of the NFF are not only commendable but critical to the integrity of our game. Improved officiating is essential for building trust among players, clubs, and fans,” Hon. Mamman Lagos said.
Highlighting Kaduna State’s commitment to the development of sports, Hon. Mamman Lagos conveyed the unwavering support of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for football and youth-oriented sporting programs.
He emphasized that the state government sees sports as a vital tool for community development, youth empowerment, and social cohesion.
He also revealed that the government has embarked on a comprehensive remodeling of the iconic Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
According to him, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to revive sporting excellence in the state and create an enabling environment for talent discovery and development.
“The ongoing renovation of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium is a testament to the government’s commitment to rejuvenating sports infrastructure. We are focused on restoring the stadium to a world-class standard that will support the growth of football and other sports in Kaduna and beyond,” he said.
The Commissioner underscored the role of sports in reducing youth restiveness, promoting unity, and driving economic growth.
He pledged continued collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and national football authorities to advance grassroots development and strengthen the football ecosystem at all levels.
“Football remains a powerful unifying tool and a platform for engaging our youth positively. The Kaduna State Government is committed to working hand-in-hand with the NNL and the NFF to grow the game from the grassroots to the national level,” he concluded.
