Some members have of African Democracy Congress (ADC), have accused Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former first Lady Aishatu Buhari and the North East National Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu of subversion of justice and destroying the tenets of democracy by trampling on the right of some Adamawa Citizens.

Mallam Sani Abdulrahaman on behalf of members of Adamawa concerned citizens addressed Journalists at the ADC office in State Locust, Yola and described the arrest of Mallam Hussaini Gambo Nakura as the unfortunate development that clearly demonstrated the shrinking democratic space Adamawa State is experiencing under the current leadership of Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as the Governor.

He said the rule of law under Fintiri’s regime appeared to be under serious tense compromised through his authoritarian tendencies.

Sani recalled how Hussaini was arraigned on Wednesday, 10th September 2025 by the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State.

According to him Hussaini out of respect for the law, honored the invitation.

“But Hussaini was however on arrival at the police headquarters, he was presented with a petition against him filed by Comrade Mustapha Shehu of Solicitors Ahmad Buba and Mustapha Salihu, alleging defamation of character.” Sani continued to say that the petition was alleged that Alhaji Hussaini Gambo defamed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the former First Lady, Hajiya Aishatu Buhari.

Sani in his words blew hot by saying that Hussaini arraigned before the Upper Magistrate Court No. 2 in Yola, and docked under extremely harsh conditions: “Shockingly, he was denied bail, despite the fact that defamation is ordinarily a bailable offense. His application for bail at the High Court of Justice, Adamawa State, was equally refused, further underscoring concerns that the judiciary in the state is heavily influenced and controlled by the government and political interests.”

“In view of this, we are calling on all human rights activists, civil society organizations, and Nigerians of conscience to rise against this injustice and ensure that Alhaji Hussaini Gambo regains his freedom.

“We specifically call on notable voices such as Solomon Dalong, Havi, Nayadi Mohammed, and other defenders of democracy to intervene and stand firm against this autocratic regime in Adamawa State.

“Justice delayed is justice denied. The struggle for freedom and fairness must not be silenced.” He said
