The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured his mentor who doubles as a former governor of the state, Yahaya Adoza Bello that he will irrespective of political bickering orchestrated by some misguided individuals operating in the state, he will never betray him.

Giving the assurance in far away Okene over the weekend during the 3rd-day Firdaus Prayers for his late father, Alhaji Ahmed MomohSani, Ododo the young mentee, said he would rather abandon the plum seat than to give the former Governor Bello away.

Governor Ododo’s resolve might not be unconnected with the advice of his late octogenarian father that under no circumstances must he let the cat out, should occasion present itself.

To Ododo Bello is the divinely ordained father of Confluence State, saying, “And let me tell you, you are the father of our dear state. It is not by age, it is the wish of God Almighty to place upon you this very big responsibility.

“And we the children, your children, your boys, I want to tell you that come rain, come shine, we shall not let you down. God has used you to touch the lives of the indigent, most especially the youth, as far as this country is concerned.

“I will lead from the front and will continue to serve you. Whoever that is planning evil between me and my boss, let me tell you, I would rather quit this stage than for me to give him up”, he said.

Commenting on the demise of his father, Ododo said, “I’m not mourning. I’m celebrating the life my father lived before he departed this wicked world. I want to say that my family and I are deeply touched by your love and solidarity at this moment.

“Words cannot capture our gratitude as a people. Well, it’s not easy to look back someday and you can’t find your father or your mother.”

Reiterating his commitment to service, Ododo said, “And as such, let me tell you that I’m ready to continue to deliver your messages to our people as far as Kogi State is concerned.”

Speaking earlier, the former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello said, “Like our biological father that has left this world to the great beyond, We always pray to God for our children to outshine, outperform, outclass ourselves.

“As the political father, my prayer is for Ahmed Usman Ododo to perform, to outperform, to outclass and outshine myself”, he said, adding that any good father or leader should pray for his son or mentee to be better, outshine and outclass him.

“We appreciate Almighty Allah for him and for all of us. We should continue to pray for this worthy son, we should continue to pray sincerely and fervently for him so that he will take us to the promised land.

“Everything we have wished to do in office that we couldn’t, he is doing them and even doing them beyond even my expectations. Mr Governor, You will succeed excellently You will succeed more than myself Amen.

“After your first term, your second term will come with ease, overwhelmingly, your eight years plus my eight years equal 16”, Bello said.
