The Ajaetan Community in Warri South Local Government Council Area of Delta State has objected to alleged moves by the Ministry to relocate its Liaison Office from the current location at Ajaetan to another LGA in the state.

In a statement made available to newsmen by a leader and key stakeholder/facilitator of the project, Mr. Henry Erikowa yesterday, the community stated that, “We want to vehemently express our total dismay, displeasure and objection of the planned discontinuation and relocation of the project to another locality.

“It is on record that the project that seats on an area of 1.109 hectares of land donated by the community has gotten to the roofing stage when the contractor – Treapo Nigeria Limited was forced to vacate the site on the eve of the COVID-19 lockdown and they have not returned to site till date for no justifiable reason”.

The petitioners appealed to the Hon. Minister of the Regional Development Commission for his urgent intervention, stating that “it is disheartening for someone or a group of persons to have opined that a project that has reached roofing stage be discontinued and a fresh contract be awarded for the same project in another locality”.

They noted that if the relocation is allowed, it’s not only going to be an injustice but a day light robbery on the peaceful Ajaetan community just as it goes further to confirm that those they entrust with their resources are also the very ones that seek to waste them and we say no to such relocation, the petitioners asserted.

The community therefore, humbly request the earliest intervention of the Honourable Minister on the matter, emphasizing that, “we are resolute on our collective will to see that construction works resumes and the project delivered accordingly”, the petitioners appealed.
