Allamin’ Foundation for Peace and Development (ALFOPED) has commenced gender inclusive , victims and survivors centered initiatives transitional justice training, mediation and dialogue capacity building training for 95 selected persons from five selected wards of Bama LGA of Borno State.

The Executive Director of the foundation, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin discussed this on Tuesday, when she led the management and consultancy team of the foundation on advocacy visit to HRH, the Shehu of Bama, Alhaj Umar Ibn Kyari Umar El–Kanemi on Tuesday at the Shehu’s Palace in Bama

While intimating him on the gender inclusive victims survivors centered transitional justice project being embarked upon by the foundation which approval was given by the state government, she added that the project would involved five communities and thanked the royal father for receiving them .

According to her, in each of the five wards, namely, Hausari, Shettimari, Mari, Tandari, Shehuri, Kangaleri where 25 persons, including LGC officials, wards, village and district heads (community leaders) as well as security agents, women, youth and vigilante groups among others would be selected for the gender inclusive victims survivors centered transitional justice, mediation and dialogue capacity training.

She noted also that out of the 100 participants, the foundation will carry out a baseline interview for active selected 60 participants to select 25 participants who would be engaged in intensive capacity building training in Maiduguri on transitional Justice community advocacy, mobilization, reconciliation ,mediation and dialogue as as Community Advocates for Transitional Justice (CATJ).

The Executive Director explained that the project is going to be executed within 10 months of the 12 months duration of the project as 2 months have already elapsed. As it is supposed to start in June, 2025 but due to some contingencies, the project is starting this August ,2025.

Responding, HRH, the Shehu of Bama, Alhaj Umar Ibn Kyari Umar El–Kanemi commended the foundation’s efforts and activities while appreciating its commitment to serve humanity at the grassroots .

He pledged to support and encourage Allamin’ Foundation for Peace and Development execute its peace building, transitional justice and advocacy programmes in Bama LGA successfully due to its significance as part of post Insurgency rebuilding process and transformation of the Emirate which was devastatingly ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The royal father also promised to mobilize all the Bama Emirate Ward Heads (Bulama), Village Heads (Lawans) and District Heads (Ajiya) as well as traditional title holders in the Emirate to contribute their quota in the actualization of the project which is in the overall interest of all and sundry of the Emirate.

He also commended the foundation for choosing Bama LGA for its strategic engagements towards improving the livelihood of his subjects through the well designed and framed interesting and benefitting activities.

Similarly, the foundation carried out an advocacy visit to Bama LGC Executive Chairman, Hon. Modu Ali Gujja on Tuesday evening to intimate him on the project .

In his remark, he appreciated the foundation for carrying the project in Bama LGA which suffered devastating effects from the insurgency .

Modu said almost all parts of the LGA was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents before it was gradually reclaimed by the military and gradually regained its status with the support and efforts of the military and government among other stakeholders in lysing humanitarian partners.

The LGC Executive Chairman assured his council support to the foundation , noting that, the council is ever willing to render any support to the development of Bama LGA while expressing appreciation for the visit and project implementation

He however lamented that a lot have been lost from the wanton destruction and thousands of people have been traumatized , and displaced leaving the town and most parts of the LGA deserted until the military came to its rescue and activities started to return to the town while most villages are at the IDPs camp in Bama for years now.

Gujja appreciated the visit and promised to cooperate with the foundation to execute it’s project and support it in all possible ways to see to the successful of completion in the general interest of Bama people and generation unborn.
