For the family and community of Idheze in Delta State, and for many in Kaduna where she spent much of her life, the name Irene Ijogho brings to mind love, resilience, and quiet strength.
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the age of 75, she passed on after a period of illness, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire all who knew her.
She was born in 1950 to the family of the late Elder Ezuzu Zobo in Idheze, Irene grew up on the solid values of discipline, hard work, and faith.
She attended Idheze Primary School before embracing her lifelong calling as a wife, mother, and community builder.
Her marriage to Elder Henry Ijogho was blessed with six children, alongside stepchildren and a foster daughter, all of whom she nurtured with love and firm moral guidance.
Though her formal education was modest, Irene distinguished herself through wisdom, industry, and dedication.
She ran a small business that sustained her family and later served as a part-time staff of the Federal College of Forestry, Afaka, Mando, in Kaduna State.
Faith was the anchor of her life. In Kaduna, she was a committed member of Bethel Baptist Church, Hayin Banki, Kawo, where she played active roles in the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union (WMU).
Upon her return to Idheze, she continued her service in the Christ’s Chosen Church of God International before finally joining the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), where she remained steadfast until her passing.
To her family and community, Irene was more than a wife and mother; she was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a constant support to many.
She opened her home, offered counsel, and lived a life of humility and quiet service.
She is survived by her husband, Elder Henry Ijogho; five biological children; four stepchildren; a foster daughter; several grandchildren; and an extended family that treasures her memory.
For those who mourn her, Irene is not gone.
Her life remains a testimony of strength without noise, faith without wavering, and love without limits a story that will continue to be told for generations.
