Kaduna was thrown into celebration at the weekend, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid a working and solidarity visit to the state, drawing thousands of residents who trooped out to welcome him.

From Mando through the train station to Kawo Bridge, jubilant crowds of farmers, market women, schoolchildren, and workers lined the streets with placards and banners to express their joy and solidarity.

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their hundreds of thousands also turned out, creating a carnival-like atmosphere across Kaduna metropolis.

Security operatives were stationed along major routes from the airport road to Kawo Bridge to ensure order and smooth movement, while many residents waved and cheered the President’s motorcade as it drove past.

President Tinubu was received by Governor Uba Sani and top government officials. His visit included a courtesy call to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari at their residence in Kaduna, where he assured the family that Buhari’s legacy of patriotism, service, and selfless leadership would be preserved.

“I assured them that his legacy of dedication, patriotism, and service would be carried forward. Kaduna will always hold a special place in our nation’s story. In sharing grief and celebrating joy today, I was reminded of the values that bind us together as Nigerians: faith, resilience, and unity of purpose,” President Tinubu said.

The President also attended the wedding ceremony of Nasirudeen Yari, son of former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, and his bride, Safiyya Shehu Idris.

The marriage took place at the Sultan Bello Mosque shortly after the Juma’at prayers and drew dignitaries from across the country, including Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno; Senator Olamilekan Adeola; and Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.

Governor Uba Sani, speaking as the host, expressed gratitude for the President’s visit, describing it as a show of leadership, compassion, and unity.

A resident, Ilita Aodu, who spoke on behalf of the crowd joined in the celebrations, noted that President Tinubu’s visit was both symbolic and unifying. “By visiting the family of President Muhammadu Buhari, he demonstrated respect for his legacy. His presence at the wedding of Nasirudeen and Safiyya also shows the importance he places on community and shared joy,” she said.

The events of the day underscored President Tinubu’s message of national unity, faith, and resilience, leaving many in Kaduna with a renewed sense of pride and solidarity.
