*Raises concerns over detention, arraignment of Captain Abubakar over alleged killing of notorious terrorist informant

The Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, in Kaduna State, has hailed the efforts of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for his unwavering commitment to ending banditry and terrorism in Northern Nigeria and other security-challenged in the area.

Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, Chairman, Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, in a statement made available to New Nigerian on Friday, said, “We particularly welcome his directive to security forces to annihilate terrorists and their collaborators without waiting for superior orders from Abuja.”

He said that they are deeply concerned by the detention and arraignment of Captain M. Abubakar (popularly known as Singham) over the alleged killing of a notorious terrorist informant, Dangwari, at Udawa along the Birnin-Gwari–Kaduna highway, saying that the development is troubling, especially as credible testimonies from the District Head and the Imam of Udawa have confirmed Dangwari’s active ties with terrorists.

Nagwari alleged that Captain Abubakar who distinguished himself by liberating Udawa, Kuriga, and Birnin-Gwari from the grip of terrorists, is now facing prosecution for carrying out the very mandate given to the security forces.

According to him, “This unfortunate situation risks dampening the morale of our gallant officers and men who continue to make immense sacrifices to secure our nation.”

The group called on the Chief of Defence Staff to urgently review the matter and ensure that justice is done.

He further appealed to the military authorities to halt any action capable of undermining the dedication and courage of the security personnel, whose loyalty and sacrifice remain vital to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
