The Kaduna State Government has announced that it will commence a 10-day free transport service for civil servants, primary and secondary school students beginning Monday, July 7, 2025, under the Kaduna Subsidized Transport Scheme (KSTS).
This initiative, revealed in a press statement by the Director General of the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KADSTRA), Engr. Inuwa Ibrahim, is aimed at easing the transportation burden on workers and students across the state.
According to him, the move is part of Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to the welfare of residents, particularly in light of current economic pressures.
The free bus service will utilize some of the 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to Kaduna on June 19, 2025.
Engr. Ibrahim emphasized that the service will be strictly regulated for order, security, and efficiency.
Civil servants will be allowed access only after presenting a valid staff ID card along with a matching National Identification Number (NIN), while students—both from public and private schools—must be in their complete school uniforms.
Similarly, personnel from recognized security agencies will be permitted to use the buses upon proper identification through their uniforms.
The free buses will operate on three major routes:
Route One: Rigachikun – Kawo – Kasuwa – Sabo, Sabo – Kasuwa – Kawo – Rigachikun.
Route Two:Rigachikun – Kawo – Independence Way – Yakowa Road, Yakowa Road – Independence Way – Kawo – Rigachikun.
Route Three: Tudun Wada – Poly Road – Sokoto Road – Kawo, Kawo – Sokoto Road – Poly Road – Tudun Wada
Engr. Ibrahim warned against crowding, jumping queues, or causing disruptions at boarding points, stating that law and order will be strictly enforced during the service period.
The temporary transport subsidy is expected to significantly ease daily commuting challenges, particularly for low- and middle-income earners in Kaduna.
