Kaduna State Government is fully committed to building the digital future of its youth in order to equip them with not just information, but with technical ability, creativity, critical thinking and empathy.

The Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe who made this known on the occasion of the World Youth Skills Day, noted that today’s world is fast evolving.

In her goodwill message, Dr Balarabe pointed out that ‘’digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and automation are rapidly changing the way we live, work, and interact.’’

Represented by the Special Adviser on Human Capital, Alhaji Sagir Balarabe, Dr Balarabe maintained that ‘’under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, we have prioritized human capital development through investments in education, vocational training, and digital empowerment. ‘’

‘’We are currently constructing three world-class skills development centres across the three senatorial zones of our State, including the recently commissioned Skills Acquisition Institute in Rigachikun, performed by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,’’ she said.

According to Dr Balarabe, ‘’these centres are designed to serve as hubs of innovation and opportunity, places where young people can acquire skills that will make them globally competitive in the 21st Century.’’

The Deputy Governor disclosed that ‘’we are also working closely with development partners to scale up training in ICT, entrepreneurship, and artificial intelligence.’’

She argued that ‘’these collaborations are essential, as we seek to bridge the digital divide and ensure that no young person in Kaduna is left behind.’’

Earlier in her welcome address, Commissioner of Youth Development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, said that the World Youth Skills Day is universally observed on 15th July every year, adding that this year marks its 10th anniversary

The Commissioner observed that 15th July transcends a mere date but ‘’signifies our resolute commitment to equipping Kaduna’s youth with the tools of tomorrow.’’

‘’In a world driven by relentless technological advancement, we gather under the timely theme: Youth Empowerment Through AI and Digital Skills,’’ she added.

According to Barrister Ibrahim, ‘’artificial Intelligence, data science, digital literacy, and coding are no longer futuristic concepts – they are today’s essential currencies.’’

She pointed out that ‘’the Fourth Industrial Revolution demands that we pivot decisively towards a skills revolution. Our youth must not just adapt; they must lead and innovate.’’

‘’Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State Senator Dr Uba Sani CON, this administration has placed youth development at the heart of its agenda,’’ she added.
