In a bid to promote wellness and healthy living, the Rotary Club of Kaduna Metropolitan in partnership with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, has kick started a monthly fitness exercise to encourage residents to embrace physical activity.

Speaking at the latest edition of the initiative held at Hamdala Hotels, renowned personal trainer and Nigeria Air Force fitness instructor, Mr. Musa Samaila, emphasized the vital role of regular exercise in preventing common health issues.

“Most ailments people complain about today are linked to lack of physical activity. Exercise should be a consistent lifestyle, especially considering the increasing intake of cholesterol in our society,” Samaila said. Trained in England, the expert urged Nigerians to prioritize fitness for long-term health benefits.

Rotarian Ahmad Tijjani, President of the Rotary Club of Kaduna Main, described the session as “refreshing and much-needed,” urging club members across the state to fully embrace the initiative. “It’s something every member of society can benefit from. We all need this,” he stressed.

Also lending her voice, NAWOJ State Chairperson, Comrade Sahura Jibrin Maidoki, highlighted the importance of staying active, saying, “The benefits of exercise cannot be overstated. It builds, maintains, and strengthens the body.” She revealed that the next fitness session will be held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kaduna.

Adding a personal testimony, former NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Fatima Aliyu, shared her experience: “I arrived with body pain, but after the exercise, I felt much better. This is something women, especially those recovering from childbirth or looking to lose weight, should embrace.”

Participants came from far and wide, including Hasaiya Ali from Zaria, who said she was thrilled to be part of the event. “The moment I saw the notice, I was determined not to miss it. It’s an initiative worth every effort,” she said.

The collaboration is expected to continue monthly, reinforcing the message that a healthier Kaduna starts with a simple step exercise.
