The Statistician-General, Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics, Dr. Bukar Baba Alhaji, has been honoured for upholding integrity and professionalism in the public service space.
The Centre for Peace & Self Values Re-orientation presented the award to Alhaji during a brief ceremony at the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics headquarters, where officials from the civil society organization commended him for ethical conduct, and commitment to service delivery.
In his remarks, the director, Centre for Peace and Self-Values Reorientation, Mr. Oyibo Abubakar, said the award followed a rigorous independent assessment of public institutions and officials by the organization and its sister NGOs.
“We conducted field assessments, asked critical questions, and evaluated the integrity and leadership of Dr. Bukar Baba Alhaji. We found him to be a humble, ethical, and professionally sound public servant who leads by example and has positively influenced the statistical system of Kaduna State,” he said.
Mr. Abubakar added that the award not only recognises past efforts but also sets a challenge to continue raising the bar in public service.
“As they say, the reward for hard work is more work. We encourage the Statistician-General and his team to continue in this path of excellence”.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Alhaji expressed joy and gratitude for the recognition, describing the moment as a validation of the Bureau’s impact on governance and society.
“I’m so happy and delighted that someone has seen the impact of what we have done on the society, our youth, and the citizens of Kaduna State. This award means a lot to me, and I sincerely thank the governor Senator Uba Sani, for building a strong statistical system and providing us with the enabling environment to work and deliver”.
Dr. Alhaji dedicated the award to his staff, acknowledging their steadfast commitment and resilience.
“No leader achieves success alone. I dedicate this award entirely to my staff. They are always ready to deliver, rain or shine. They approach their responsibilities with ownership and dedication, and I am truly proud of them”.
The event brought together civil society actors, staff of the Bureau, and well-wishers who hailed the honour as a reflection of the growing emphasis on integrity and accountability in governance.
