The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has recently held its Public Complaint Week for the third quarter of 2025 in Kafanchan.
In a statement issued by the Assistant Director of Public Affairs Unit, Nuhu Garba Dan-Ayamaka, a total number of four complaints were received by the authority during the programme.
According to the statement, the complaints were on the issues of land encroachment, building permits duration of one year expiration, application for building permit which were applied since 2021 and also complaint on the construction of filling stations around the residential area.
In his opening remarks, the Director General, of KASUPDA, Bldr. Abdurrahman Yahya(Ph.D) explained that the ‘Public Complaint Week’ programme is an opportunity for the general public to meet physically with the Authority to lay their complaints, ask questions, make suggestions and recommendations in line with His Excellency, Mal. Uba Sani’s commitment in addressing issues bothering people.
Also responding to the complaints, the DG expressed delight that the Authority has drastically reduced the problems confronted by the people conducting business with KASUPDA.
Making comparison with the previous Public Complaint Week of the third and last quarters of 2024 and first and second quarters of 2025. He stated that the third quarter of this year indicated that complaints were gradually reducing.
On the request made to integrate youth on the professional work of KASUPDA, the DG explained that all NYSC and IT students posted to the Authority were been accepted. While preparation for internship was put in place.
In view of the complaints, KASUPDA’s management team visited the sites at Katsina Street for the land encroachment issue and filling station under construction at GDSS Takau Road in Kafanchan.
Other areas visited during the Public Complaint Week for ensuring compliance with standard, proper developments, safety of lives and properties include, Kafanchan Central Market, commercial shops at Kafanchan by Kagoro Road and filling station at Zonkwa.
For the support, co-operation and advises to enable achieve success, Bldr. Abdurrahman Yahya also led the management to Jema’a Emirate Council for a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Highness, Muhammad Isa Muhammad.
The DG said that the Public Complaint Week for the first quarter of 2025 was held in Zaria while, the second quarter was held in Kaduna and for the third quarter in Kafanchan to enable KASUPDA meet physically with the people comprises two zones.
He thanked the Emir’s representatives from the Emirate Council at the event.
The Emir, Alh. Muhammad Isa Muhammad expressed appreciation for the visit and prayed for the Almighty Allah’s assistance, guidance and protection.
Participants at the event were the representatives from Jema’a Emirate Council, Agwom Bajju kingdom, representative of Chief Fantswam and representative of Chief Kpop Ham of Kagoro.
Others include, : Deputy Provost College of Education, Gidan Waya, NIA, NITP, NIOB and Faculty of Environmental Science, KASU.
In their separate comments, participants commended KASUPDA for this initiative and stressed on the need to sustain such programme.
Also, emphasis were made on the need for synergy between KASUPDA and developers, sensitisation through jingles two week before the event, passing the information through traditional/religious leaders, synergy between KASUPDA and professionals, need for professional staff, training and retraining of staff, building good image of KASUPDA, promoting good relationship with the people and honesty in carrying out the responsibility.
