Katsina State Police Command has arrested one hundred and sixty eight (168) suspects in connection with one hundred and five (105) reported major cases in the state as part of its achievements for the month of September, 2025.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu made the announcement during a press conference in his office at the Command headquarters in Katsina Metropolis.stressing that, the efforts were part of several strategies employed by the Police while working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of lives and property in the State.
Represented by the Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, CP Bello Shehu said of the suspects arrested, “Twelve (12) were armed robbers; five (5) murder/culpable homicide suspects; over twenty (20) suspected rapists; nine (9) suspected vandals; two (2) gun runners; three (3) for unlawful possession of firearms and fourteen (14) illicit drug peddlers and others not captured above.”
He said the command has also foiled several bandit attacks, neutralising five (5) suspected armed bandits and rescuing over eighty (80) kidnapped victims within the period under review.
CP Shehu assembled exhibits recovered from the suspects as:- One thousand two hundred and ninety-eight (1298) rounds of live ammunition; four (4) cartridges; one (1) GPMG: two (2) AK-47 rifles; one (1) locally fabricated gun; one (1) dane gun; five (5) suspected stolen motor vehicles; five (5) suspected stolen motorcycles; One thousand and ninety-six (1,096) pieces of tramadol tablets; forty-two (42) pieces of Exol tablets, and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis as well as large quantity of suspected vandalised electric cables.
He explained that, “These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state. We sincerely express our deepest appreciation for their support, collaboration and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order in the state.”
CP Bello Shehu appreciated the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun for his unflinching support of the Command, thereby significantly enhancing their crime – fighting efforts
Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, however, solicited for more support and cooperation from members of the public to enable the Command further improve on these successes. “We urge the public to continue reporting suspicious activities and crimes to the nearest police station or use our emergency numbers,” he added.
