Katsina State Police Command has arrested a notorious suspected car snatcher and recovered a stolen motor vehicle in renewed efforts in the fight against auto theft across the 34 local government areas in the state.
The Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu disclosed this in his at the Command Headquarters in Katsina Metropolis.
He explained that, “On August 30th, 2025, at about 8:00 am, information was received at the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit that a black 2019 Toyota Corolla, robbed from the residence of one Mr Sunday Solomon Jiyah, m, of Federal Housing Authority, Phase 1, Lugbe, Abuja, alongside other valuables, was traced to Katsina State.”
He said upon receipt of the information, quickly, “detectives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action, successfully tracking the stolen vehicle to the Kofar Kwaya Area, Katsina Metropolis. Following diligent efforts, the team successfully arrested one Muhammad Abdullahi, male, age 28, of Kofar Kaura quarters, Katsina, in possession of the said vehicle.”
During investigation, he said the suspect confessed to having received the stolen vehicle from one Abdul, alias Dukiya of Malumfashi Local Government Area in the State, a notorious car snatcher, now at large. Pointing out that efforts are being sustained to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect(s) as the investigation proceeds.
Deputy Superintendent of Police,Sadiq Aliyu said Commissioner of Police of Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu has commended the dedication and professionalism of the operatives.
According to him,CP Bello Shehu reassured Public of the commitment of the command towards maintaining peace and resilience security as well as appealed for continued cooperation and timely information to aid crime fighting in Katsina State.
