Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team on their fifth consecutive wins at the just concluded 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket championship.

Governor AbdulRazaq commended the team for the 78-64 score line against the Malian side in a scintillating game which reaffirmed their pole position in African female basketball.

“This victory was made possible by sheer discipline, commitment, and dedication of the team. The players and the Rena Makama coaching crew deserve all the recognitions that have come their way,” the Governor says in a statement on Monday.

“I join the President, HE Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the people of our country to celebrate the team for the record-setting victory in Africa.”

The Governor said that the feat, along with other wins across other areas of human endeavour, shows that what truly defines Nigeria are excellent talents, resilience, hard work, and the can-do spirit with which its people handle challenges.
