A high-powered delegation from Plateau State, led by Alhaji Sambo Mohammed, emir of Wuse on Sunday,  visited   Zazzau Emirate on condolence over the killing of wedding bound-travelers who were attacked and killed in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The visit followed an outcry by the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli on the failure of Plateau State Government to send an official delegation to visit Zazzau Emirate and the victims’ families.

Twelve  travellers including the father and brother of the groom from Basawa community in Zaria,  were killed during an attack in Mangu, Plateau State, on June 20.

While 11 others who sustained various degrees of injuries  during the attack are currently receiving  treatment at 44 Army Reference  Hospital,  Kaduna.

Speaking during the condolence visit on Sunday, the Emir of Wase said the delegation intended to be in Zaria  earlier, but security reports advised the committee to delay the journey.

“However, we got the clearance from the security that we can come, hence the visit”. he said.

“Another delegation will make a follow-up visit for further deliberations with key stakeholders over the unfortunate incident,” he assured.

The emir disclosed that 22 people had already been arrested over the attack, stressing that the Plateau State Government would ensure that, “justice is served.”

Responding, Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli expressed appreciation over the visit, adding that the excuse tendered by the delegation was apt and acceptable.

He said that  Kaduna and Plateau states share   mutual relationships,  which should not be allowed to vanish by the actions of few individuals.

The emir suggested that key stakeholders should embark on activities that would enhance peace and harmony.

Also,  Malam Yakubu Yusuf, Unguwar Dan Tsoho, Kudan Local Government Area, who spoke on behalf of the families of the victims, commended the Emir of Wase for his active intervention over the matter.

Yusuf added that the victims were the bread winners for their respective families and urged the traditional rulers to prevail on the government to ensure that the families of the victims receive adequate interventions.

The high-powered delegation from Plateau were received by the representatives of Kudan and Sabon Gari local government councils and District Heads of the affected communities at the emir’s palace in Zaria.
