Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has berated the Federal Government for what he called as, ‘showing indifference’ to the opposition state governments especially in monetary intervention provision to them.

He told members of the State Executive Council (SEC) during their routine meeting held in Bauchi on Thursday that they don’t have the luxury of other states that are getting interventions, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states in the federation.

“We have to really go on austerity to be able to achieve, we don’t have the luxury of other states that were getting interventions. We have written a lot of letters to the federal government on deserving issues that needs intervention on security and governance, but we are not listen to, may be because we are in the opposition.

He added, “Other states are getting a lot of money, and I’m crying loud because this is unfair, but this is what we have been going through, that the federal government is not listening to the opposition state governments”.

According to him, this is very unfair, ‘if their is money for interventions, we are supposed to be given equally, but you can see politics is being played around, even the intervention that is required to bring good governance’.

Senator Bala Mohammed explained that Bauchi has no option other than to utilize the little resources that it have, as it is wasteful to start crying hue or apportioning blames, ‘let them take their billions, but certainly we would do with the little we have’.

Governor Bala therefore, drew the attention of Bauchi people to understand that the state don’t have the luxury or consideration of being assisted other than what it is getting from the federation account, and from the Development Partners.

The Bauchi Chief Executive also announced the postponement of the much-awaited State Investment Summit scheduled for this July for October this year, attributable to some inconveniences.

“Our own investment summit has hiccups because we have listen to the international community, people that we are inviting, we are oblivious of the fact that July is midyear period, most members of the diplomatic community and corporate bodies would be going for midyear holiday, and we wouldn’t want our occasion to be partially attended”.

The governor added, “So, we are going to shift the event to October on the advise of experts, and this I want it to be circulated by the media, because we need time to inform those we are inviting, and we have to it quickly, otherwise we have a problem”.

“Most people are serious especially those we are inviting, they need to change their programmes and diaries to ensure that they come or they don’t come, and we need to at least give two to three weeks notice”, Senator Bala concluded
