Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajuddeen. Abbas has been urged to intervene and ensure that all retired staff of the National Assembly are beneficiaries of their proposed pension board to justify their sacrifices.

Some retirees of the legislature made the appeal in comments over alleged plans to amend the act establishing the board signed by the late President Muhammadu Buhari which covered the pensioners of various categories.

They expressed hope that leadership of the National Assembly would maintain the original law rather than enact new one which may deny them the benefits earlier enumerated for ulterior motives.

The retires complained that some of their senior colleagues including directors receive less than fifty thousand Naira monthly pension, described as unfortunate.

They stressed the need for the Federal Government to scrap the two pension organizations Pencom and PTAD and adopt new strategies for timely and regular payment of retirees benefits in the interest of the public service, expected to move the nation forward.
