The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General A.K. Ibrahim has urged the 88 RRI to attend requisite courses after passing out in order to attain the highest standard of professional competence for steady career
He made the call in his address as the Special Guest of Honour at the Beating of Retreat in honour of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake.
He said, “this occasion, is very important in the training cycle of every intake that passes through this great Institution.”
According to him, it is a period for stocktaking where recruits and training companies that distinguished themselves in the training session as well as staff are rewarded either individually or collectively.
“Also, it is a time for the recruits to look back and appreciate the progress they have made so far.
“From what I have witnessed here today, it is clear that all the training companies competed keenly in the various events that were aimed at enhancing their training in Depot NA.
“This is evident by the number of trophies displayed before the respective companies and the certificates earned by the various award winners”.
General Ibrahim, congratulated the training companies and commended those that won individual laurels.
For those who were unable to win any individual laurel, he enjoined them to note that they will always have several opportunities to excel in the course of their career as soldiers.
The Special Guest of Honour said the Beating of Retreat officially signifies the end of the training activities outlined for the intake, except the passing out parade which will come up on Saturday 14 June 2025.
He reminded that Depot Nigerian Army has introduced them to the initial military training which is the foundation they need to build their career upon.
“You are to however, understand that training in the Nigerian Army is a continuous process and will last throughout your career”.
” For the personnel and civilian staff who distinguished themselves and were rewarded by the Commandant, I say congratulations.
“The recognition given to you implies that you are to further fasten your belts so as to reassure the Commandant and indeed the Nigerian Army that today’s award is well deserved,” he said.
Gen. Ibrahim urged them to remain disciplined, hardworking and continue to contribute their best towards the progress of this noble Institution.
To all other members of staff who were not rewarded, he encouraged them to redoubled their efforts in order to be recognized in no distant time.
The Special Guest of Honour congratulated the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army, Maj Gen AB Mohammed, staff and his team of instructors for the progress made so far in the training of the recruits.
He appreciated them all for providing quality training and their tireless efforts at ensuring that the standard is met and sustained at all time.
As you prepare to enlist 88 RRI into the NA, I wish the recruits and entire Depot Nigerian Army community a successful and memorable passing out parade.
In his welcome address, the Chief host the Commandant Depot NA, Major General AB. Mohammed said the 88 RRI started on January 13, 2025 with rigorous training .
He said, 6,450 recruits commenced the training in Depot NA and after withstanding the rigours of training, 6,195 are due to pass out.
Gen. Mohammed said, the training of the recruits has undoubtedly stretched the human and material resources of the institution beyond limits.
He said, the entire Depot NA is indeed grateful to the COAS for his unflinching support throughout the training cycle.
The Commandant, expressed appreciation to the NDA, AFCSC and NASI for collaboration in the realization of joint field training exercises.
He said, this jointness has brought in more realization in the training for the recruits and it has also afforded them the opportunity to know the officers and soldiers they will be working with in the field on passing out.
