Katsina State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspected vandals of high tension cables at Dabaibayawa village in Batagarawa Local Government Araa of the state.

A statement by Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Buhari Hamisu named the suspected vandals as:- “Umar Halilu ‘M’ aged 29 years old and Abdullahi Salisu ‘M’ aged 35 years old both from Dabaibayawa village of Batagarawa Local Government Area, apprehended after taking away large quantity of high tension wire and burnt cables on Thursday 21st August, 2025 at Dabaibayawa village, Batagarawa LGA.”

The statement said vandals, thieves and those tempering with private property pose much danger to the socio-economic well being of the society and must be flushed out of Katsina State for the safety of all.

Consequently, the Katsina State Command of the Civil Defence Corps would not tolerate these acts as personnel are on 24 hours surveillance to address these crimes.

Accordingly, the statement explained that, during investigation, the suspects confessed to committing the crime and revealed that they were arrested while conveying the cables in different bags to the buyers.

“The suspect are currently being investigated and due diligence will be followed in thier prosecution,” the statement disclosed.

Therefore, the Commandant of the Corps in Katsina State, Aminu Datti Ahmad assured for adequate Security as the Command would not relent in it’s commitments to uncover all the activities of vandals, economic saboteurs and other criminals in the State.

Commandant Ahmad appreciated People of the State for their continuous cooperation and urged for more collaboration with relevant stakeholders to promote security and tackle the rate of vandalism of relevant national assets and Infrastructures.

Commandant Datti Ahmad reiterated the need for Public to be more vigilant especially at this time of rainy season when the incidences are more rampants and support the NSCDC with credible intelligence.
