Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State  has called on the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to utilise the opportunity of the service to contribute to the development of the nation.

Lawal made the call on Friday in Gusau,  at the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 2025 Batch “A” Stream II Corps Members deployed to the state.

The governor represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports,  Tasi’u Musa-Shinkafi, also called on the corps members to uphold the values of respect, tolerance and cooperation.

“As graduates from various universities, you have great opportunities in future, I am calling on you to be good ambassadors of our great nation in the service year and after.

“The one year NYSC programme is a unique period for corps members to build bridges of unity and national cohesion.

“I  am therefore, encouraging you as corps members to initiate changes and contribute  positively to your host communities and state”, he explained.

The governor assured corps members  of adequate security.

He assured that the his administration will continue to work with security agencies to ensure effective protection of corp members

“I am therefore, using this medium to call on you , let your service year be marked by projects that improve lives, motivate communities and leave lasting legacies.

“Those amongst you that will demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovation and meaningful service will be celebrated and honoured”, the governor assured.

In his remarks, the state NYSC Coordinator, Malam Muhammad Lawan commended Zamfara government’s support to the NYSC scheme.

According to him, the three weeks orientation course is aimed at equipping corps members with skills, knowledge and resilience needed for a successful service year.

Lawan urged the corps members to embrace the training programme and be prepared to serve with patriotism and dedication.

He expressed his gratitude to the state government for its support to the scheme.

The coordinator appealed to the state government to improve infrastructure to enhance the training of the growing corps members deployed to the state.

The representative of the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, Justice Saidu Gummi administered the Oath of Allegiance to the corps members.
