Leaders and stakeholders in the Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, staged peaceful solidarity rally for a lawmaker in the state House of Assembly, Hon Ibraheem Shittu on the alleged fresh N300 billion loan by the state government

Oyo APC members during the solidarity rally, alerted of alleged threat to the life of the lawmaker over the alarm he raised on the purported approval of the loan by the state House of Assembly.

At the peaceful protest which kicked off at the APC state secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan, the party stressed that the lawmaker has been receiving threat messages as a result the alarm he raised few days ago on the alleged approval of a fresh N300 billion loan

The APC members during the protest emphasized that nothing should not happen to the lawmaker for raising the alarm on the said fresh loan.

Oyo state APC Chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas while speaking disclosed that the protest was organised as a mark of solidarity for the lawmaker.

“We are here to show our support to him for taking bold step to stand against the loan. We are behind him.We are here to tell the governor that he should not send Oyo State to a perpetual loan collector”, he said.

Alhaji Abas added,” We are not satisfied with what is happening. What has the governor done with the previous loans.I have the protest letter here, he should not be victimised. The process to take over Oyo state has started.”

New Nigerian recalled that the lawmaker on Wednesday, August 27, Hon Ibraheem few days ago raised the alarm on his facebook.

” I want it to be in record that I, Hon Shittu Ibraheem, representing Saki West state constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly, am not among other lawmakers who approved a loan of 300 billion naira on 19th August 2025 and perfected on 26th of August 2025 in an emergency sitting during our 6-week recess”, he said.

Hon Ibraheem added, ” The House is currently on a 6-week recess from July 31st to September 16th, 2025. But an emergency plenary session was arranged to approve such a loan without communicating it to all members”.

” Loan at this time when all states have more than enough. Oyo State now receives about a 500% increase in FAAC. Why take this loan? Why is the loan an emergency and why was the sitting not communicated to all the honorable members?
