The Agwa Atyap II, of Atyap Chiefdom, HRH Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya has expressed excitement over the return of peace to his chiefdom, a development he said is making them anticipate bumper harvest in this year’s farming season.

He expressed this on Wednesday July 9, 2025, when he received “The Seal of Unity Award” from a group, A New Kaduna United at his palace in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

To create the peace we are seeking for can be achieved.
Well, we thank God
that we are experiencing peace at the moment. And this peace we are achieving you can see it is impacting on all.

“With the efforts of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani and the security agencies, people can now go out.
People can now cultivate the land.
And then we are expecting a bumper harvest.

“People can now sleep with their eyes closed to me because there is peace and of course there is unity and understanding among the people,” he said.

Speaking further, he said, “Yes, His Excellency has done a lot in terms of security. We’re aware that he’s been working and directing the security agencies to do the needful.
And that’s why we have peace, and we’re enjoying it at the moment.
And this peace has enabled His Excellency to do more projects for our people.

“He initiates and executes projects in the rural areas. And I can tell you that we are great beneficiaries of the projects of His Excellency in this chiefdom.
.
“His Excellency has worked to not only bring people together, but to promote the unity as well.
We can touch these projects because we can see them.
And we are enjoying some of them, but some of them are on the way.”

On behalf of the Atyap Chiefdom, he therefore, appreciated the efforts of the government and the inclusiveness of Governor Uba Sani.

“We are the greatest beneficiaries of that. Honestly speaking, the efforts of His Excellency surpassed any other witnessed in recent years. It is our prayer that he would continue on this path and God’s blessings will be upon him,” he prayed.

He seized the opportunity to welcome the team from A New Kaduna United, while thanking them for recognizing him with the prestigious award.

“I seize the opportunity to welcome our August visitors to the Palace.
I immensely appreciate you for thinking it wise and considering the idea to institute this award and naming me as one of the recipients.

“It is a great honor. It is a privilege too. When I got the news that you would be coming, because last week I got the news that you would be coming to confer an award on me, then I asked, I want to know what the award was all about, you you said on peace building.

‘I struggle to unite the people and I said, of course you are welcome.

“I want to let you know that prior to this, I have received over 200 requests for awards and I declined them. For so many other reasons.

“But since this one talks about unity and peace building, I said, I will not hesitate and I did not hesitate to answer affirmatively. I would be willing to receive the award.

“I answered affirmatively because
our main responsibility and preoccupation here in this kingdom
is the building of the peace.

“We center around working with the people to achieve one thing.
That thing is peace of the land.
Because we all know how important this peace is.

“You know, all my other subjects,
I can tell you that they are purely heterogeneous. Heterogeneous from tribes, villages, religions affiliations and cultural persuasions.

“So, we have to pick a responsibility
bigger than anybody else
to work twice double
to ensure that we create harmony among the people,” he said.

While emphasizing his gratitude for the award, the Agwatyap prayed that peaceful coexistence will be maintained all over Southern Kaduna and the state at large.

He therefore, assured that he would be attending a summit, with the topic “Building and Consolidating a Legacy of Peace, Unity and Development: The Uba Sani Example”, being organized by A New Kaduna United, which aims to promote peacefully coexistence.

Speaking earlier, Convener of A New Kaduna United, Honourable Yahaya Goje said that the Agwatyap was named for the award, following his track records of preaching peaceful coexistence.

“This prestigious award of honour to his royal highness was decided based on his steadfast role as a stabilizing figure and a symbol of peace and unity in the Atyap land,” he said.

Others who witnessed the award presentation, included Agwatyap’s council members, as well as the Patron of A New Kaduna United,
Alh Sani liman Kila Phd, and
Solomon Dauda, Bulus Jeremiah Maza and Lawrence M. Katung, all members of the group.
