As the wave of defections gathers more momentum, a prominent member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 general elections, Hon. Ismail Aliyu Makarfi has dumped the ruling All progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Ismail Aliyu Makarfi was a former Commissioner of Finance in Kaduna State and a prominent figure in the APC in the state.
While his letter of resignation submitted to the APC Makarfi Ward chairman, did not specify any reason for his decision to dump the ruling party, it may not be unconnected with recent political realignment across the country.
” I remain.grateful for the experience and relationships built during my time with the party.” He said in the letter addressed to the ward chairman.
His resignation marks a significant turning point in Kaduna State politics, having served the party at various positions and contributed to the victory of the state governor, Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.
Many people see this development as a big set back to the party not only in the state, but the nation in general, because as an ally of the state governor, he is the first in recent history to leave the ruling party.
Ismail Makarfi who was a prominent APC stakeholder also contested for the Makarfi/Kudan Federal Constituency ticket in the 2023 elections, therefore, his exit from the party has signalled a major shift within the ranks of the APC.
