The lingering quest for the recognition of Etsu Lokoja stool added feather to its cap midweek in Lokoja, with another group paying a solidarity visit to Etsu Lokoja HRH, Dauda Shelika Nyamkpa IV.

The Chairman, Nobamna of Emi-Woro, Prince Nda Abu who led his people to the palace, told the traditional ruler that the visit was essentially to acknowledge the stool and thanked him for doing the Bassa-Nge people proud.

He recalled that the Bassa-Nge people migrated from Gbara the ancestral home of the Nupes to Lokoja and across the River Niger.

He asserted that the Bassa-Nge-Nge People, as is known to people today, are originally Nupes and not any other tribe.

He said that the people are grateful for the historical evidence before them and have come to appreciate the struggle by the Etsu Lokoja to give them the sense of belonging in his quest for a collective identity.

He appealed to the government of Alhaji Ahmed Ododo to initiate, with dispatch, the process of officially recognising the stool of Etsu Lokoja in no distant time with all fairness and justice.

Responding, the Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Dauda Sheila Nyamkpa lV said that the agitation for the stool is for the recognition of a people who are the original settlers of the land.

He said that the quest for the recognition of the stool is not in dispute with any tribe or Chieftaincy title that is competing with one.

He expressed optimism that in no distant time, the seeming bickering will be a thing of the past.
